About This Machine

Spin-a-Card is an electro-mechanical pinball machine from 1969, manufactured by Petaco, S.A. of Madrid, Spain, and is a direct copy of Gottlieb's 1969 'Spin-A-Card'. It illustrates how some Spanish manufacturers of the era closely replicated popular American designs for their domestic market.

Gameplay on Spin-a-Card involves navigating a ball through a playfield adorned with ten backglass spinning lights, seven stand-up targets, and two kick-out holes that both launch the ball back up the playfield. Four pop bumpers and two slingshots add to the machine's complexity, requiring players to develop strategic thinking to succeed.

The cards/gambling theme is carried through the backglass artwork. While no designer is specifically credited for this Spanish-made copy, it remains an interesting specimen for collectors and historians studying how American pinball designs spread internationally through direct replication in the late 1960s.
