About This Machine

Big Dryvers, manufactured in 1979 by Mondialmatic of Florence, Italy, is a single-player electro-mechanical conversion kit with a horse racing theme, featuring artwork by Michele 'Mike' Martinelli. It was designed as a conversion kit for Gottlieb's 1972 'Space Orbit' - meaning the underlying hardware started life as a space-themed game before being re-skinned with horse racing art and rules.

Gameplay is minimal: two flippers and three pop bumpers make up the machine's core features, housed in a wedge-head backbox.

As a conversion kit rather than an original design, Big Dryvers is best understood alongside Mondialmatic's other late-1970s conversions, such as 'Sisters' and 'Take A Card,' which repurposed existing Gottlieb cabinets for the Italian and European markets.
