About This Machine

Giuliano Lodola's Golden Arrow (1978) is a customized Italian version of Gottlieb's 1977 machine of the same name, adapted for the Italian market. As a product of one of the lesser-known Italian manufacturers of the era, whose production run spanned only 1978-1981, Golden Arrow is a rarity among collectors. Its Native American Warriors theme, carried over from the Gottlieb original, gives it a distinctive look among electro-mechanical machines of its time.

The gameplay features of the Golden Arrow are characteristic of EM pinballs: two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots provide a challenging yet rewarding experience for players. The wedge-shaped headbackbox is another notable design element that adds to the machine's appearance. Little information is available on Lodola's specific changes from the original Gottlieb design.

One interesting aspect of the Golden Arrow is its relative obscurity within pinball history. As a product of a lesser-known manufacturer, it has escaped the limelight compared to more prominent EM machines like Bally or Williams. Nevertheless, its rarity and its status as an Italian adaptation of a Gottlieb classic have piqued the interest of collectors and enthusiasts.
