About This Machine

Bulls Eye Baseball is a two-player electro-mechanical bat game manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company, first shipping on March 24, 1967. Rather than flippers, players swing a bat to hit pitched balls, competing in a baseball-themed contest complete with seven hanging targets and a scoreboard of bells, a buzzer, and a knocker.

The machine's standout feature is its trio of ramps. Two are unpainted metal, while the third, centrally located ramp is painted red and raises up during the game, letting the player shoot for the Bullseye feature before retracting after each out. The red plastic bullseye target shipped from the factory with any of four hole sizes - 7/8 inch, 1 inch, 1 1/4 inch, or 1 3/8 inch - with 1 inch being the factory-installed standard. Even the inside walls of the cabinet carry artwork, an unusual decorative touch.

A curiosity for collectors: the backglass and upper playfield marquee spell the name as two words, "Bulls Eye," while the manufacturer's flyer and schematic spell it as one word, "Bullseye." Surviving examples also appear in varying cabinet color shades - some seemingly blue-on-white, others green-on-white - though lighting, photography, and fading may account for the differences.
