About This Machine

Big Bang Bar, designed by Rob Morrison for Capcom Coin-Op, was built as a prototype in June 1996 near the end of Capcom's brief run in pinball manufacturing. The Outer Space-themed machine transports players to a cosmic realm of asteroids, alien encounters, and black holes, but it never reached full production - Capcom's pinball division ceased operations before Big Bang Bar could be released, and only 14 prototype units are confirmed to exist today. The game was later remade and produced by PMI/Illinois Pinball Company in 2007.

Gameplay is driven by three flippers, two slingshots, and an array of targets that include standup targets, captive balls, ramp diverters, drop targets, and a spinning target. The unique design allows for complex multiball action, with alien-shaped ball locks that resemble gaping mouths locking up to four balls. A female figurine also moves inside a plastic tube at certain points in the game, adding an extra layer of visual interest.

Big Bang Bar's design and art are equally impressive, featuring a colorful playfield with a green plastic tube serving as a habitrail to deliver balls to the left flipper lane. Its rarity as an unreleased prototype, combined with its intricate details, has made it a legendary object of desire among collectors.
