About This Machine

Road Racer is a 1985 solid-state conversion kit built on the cabinet of Bally's 1977 "Evel Knievel." Its manufacturer is not definitively known: the kit was once attributed to Geiger-Automatenbau, but Geiger himself has stated he was not responsible for producing it.

As with many small conversion-kit machines of the era, detailed information about Road Racer's specific gameplay, theme, and artwork has not survived, leaving its true origin something of an open question for collectors and historians.

Rather than a prototype or experimental unit, Road Racer represents the common practice of the mid-1980s European market: repurposing an older Bally cabinet with new electronics and artwork under an unconfirmed manufacturer's name.
