Bagdad
About This Machine
Bagdad, produced by Dallas Novelty Sales Company Incorporated of Dallas, Texas in November 1932, is a two-player pure mechanical pinball machine from the earliest years of the coin-operated pinball industry. It used an interchangeable playfield shared with the same company's 1932 'All-American Twin,' a common cost-saving practice among smaller manufacturers of the period.
As a Pure Mechanical (PM) game, Bagdad relied entirely on physical mechanisms rather than any electrical or electromechanical components. Its cabinet was advertised at 26 inches long, 31 inches wide, and 38 inches high — a modest footprint typical of early-1930s counter and floor machines.
No designer is documented for Bagdad, and its artwork and theme are not well recorded. Along with its sibling game Delhi, it stands as a representative example of the smaller regional manufacturers, like Dallas Novelty Sales, that competed alongside Chicago's larger pinball makers during the industry's formative years.
