About This Machine

Venus, manufactured by Renov' Automatic's Jolux division (trade name J. Martina) in France in 1969, is a conversion of Gottlieb's 1962 'Liberty Belle.' While the backglass artwork was replaced with new artwork by Jean Amiot, the playfield retains the original Gottlieb artwork and logo, with a right outlane ball return gate added for this version.

Gameplay on Venus features four flippers, three pop bumpers, two passive bumpers, two slingshots, and a bullseye target. The machine's design includes two separate roto-target units, each displaying two targets to challenge players. The use of slingshots and bullseye targets adds variety to the game, while the presence of multiple bumpers creates opportunities for high-scoring combos.

Venus's theme takes players on an intergalactic journey through outer space, with artwork depicting a spacecraft amidst celestial bodies. As a late-1960s conversion of an earlier Gottlieb design, it offers an interesting example of how European operators refreshed older American machines with new themes and artwork.
