Screech
About This Machine
Screech is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine manufactured by Industria (Electromecánica) de Recreativos S.A. (INDER) of Madrid, Spain in 1976; INDER operated under that trade name from 1970 to 1993. A four-player solid-state version was later released under the same name.
The game features two flippers, three pop bumpers, and left and right dual inlanes, and could be played with either three or five balls, giving players some choice in how they approached a game. Like other EM machines of the period, its scoring is handled by mechanical score reels, giving it a distinctive mechanical sound and feel compared to later solid-state machines.
The flyer indicates the game was also produced with a digital score display fitted in front of the factory-installed EM score reels, reportedly across the entire production run, along with a basic sound board using a speaker instead of chimes. Beyond these technical details, little else is documented about Screech's design, art, or theme, but its electro-mechanical engineering makes it an interesting piece of 1970s Spanish pinball history.
