Shamrock
About This Machine
The Shamrock, manufactured by Industria (Electromecánica) de Recreativos S.A. (INDER) of Madrid, Spain in 1977, is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine with a Playing Cards theme. A four-player EM version was also produced under the same name.
The game uses electro-mechanical mechanisms typical of the era, with two flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, five standup targets, four captive balls, four kick-out holes, and an upper right kicker lane providing a varied and challenging layout. A later variant of this one-player game reportedly added a digital score display and a basic sound board (with a speaker instead of chimes) in front of the factory-installed EM score reels, though all other mechanisms remained electro-mechanical.
Little is documented about Shamrock's designer or artist. As one of INDER's electro-mechanical titles from the late 1970s, it offers an interesting look at the Spanish pinball industry during a period when EM technology was giving way to solid-state electronics elsewhere in the world.
