About This Machine

The Valkyrie, manufactured by Jeutel of France between 1981 and 1986, is a rare Fantasy-Mythology themed solid-state electronic (SS) pinball machine released in 1982.

One of the standout features that sets Valkyrie apart is its four-flipper design, a layout uncommon at the time of its release. The smaller flippers located at the top of the playfield are particularly noteworthy, as they are not the typical zipper-flipper configuration found on many other machines.

Valkyrie's backglass art is notable in its own right: it reproduces artwork originally created by artist Christos Achilléos for the 1981 animated film Heavy Metal, depicting the character Taarna flying on a giant bird - the same image that appeared on the film's poster and the September 1981 cover of Heavy Metal magazine. With only around 100 units confirmed produced, Valkyrie remains a rare find for collectors and enthusiasts of early SS pinball.
