About This Machine

Ice Mania, a Solid State Electronic (SS) widebody pinball machine from I.D.I. of Italy, is a conversion kit that closely copies Premier's 1985 'Ice Fever.' Its exact year of production remains unconfirmed (previously listed as 1978, but not verified), and it should not be confused with a very similar, unrelated game, Jac van Ham's 1986 'Ice Mania,' which shares nearly identical backglass art but differs in its score-display layout.

Gameplay features two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, five standup targets, a three-bank drop target, and a spinning target, built around a hockey theme. The backglass is distinctive for having four score displays positioned in each corner of the glass, with an extension above the backbox likely intended for speakers or a light display.

Little is known about Ice Mania's exact production numbers or the individuals behind it, but as an Italian-made clone of a well-known American title, it offers an interesting case study in how pinball designs crossed borders and were reproduced during the 1980s.
