Arrow
About This Machine
Arrow was manufactured by V. P. Distributing Company of St. Louis, Missouri, in 1944. It was a converted game, based on Genco's 1940 'Cadillac', reflecting the wartime practice of manufacturers repurposing existing pinball cabinets rather than building new games from scratch.
As a flipperless, single-player electro-mechanical machine, Arrow's gameplay relied on bumpers, rollovers, and electromagnetic relays to generate scoring, without any flipper control — flippers would not be introduced to pinball until 1947, several years after Arrow was produced.
Little specific information survives about Arrow's original design, art, or theme. As with many wartime conversion games, this scarcity of documentation only adds to its intrigue for collectors and historians studying pinball's transitional years just before the flipper era began.
