Triple Play
About This Machine
Triple Play was manufactured by Glickman Industries of Philadelphia, with the earliest known reference dating to February 1942. It was a converted game based on Chicago Coin's 1940 'Home Run 1940', carrying a baseball theme that made it one of the earlier sports-themed pinball conversions of the era.
As a flipperless, single-player electro-mechanical machine, Triple Play's gameplay relied on bumpers and rollovers rather than flipper skill, since flippers had not yet been introduced to pinball. Little is documented about its specific artwork, though its baseball theme would have been conveyed through the backglass and cabinet graphics typical of Glickman's conversion kits.
Glickman Industries operated only from 1942 to 1944, and Triple Play's rarity today reflects that brief production window. It remains an interesting artifact of wartime pinball, when manufacturers like Glickman kept the industry going by repurposing existing games rather than building new ones from scratch.
