About This Machine

Parade Leader, manufactured by Glickman Industries of Philadelphia in February 1942, was a converted game based on Gottlieb's 1940 'Drum Major'. Like other Glickman titles of the period, it began as a full conversion performed for operators — a new backglass, new bumpers, and a repainted cabinet — before Glickman shifted to selling it as a conversion kit that operators could install themselves.

As a flipperless, single-player electro-mechanical machine, Parade Leader's gameplay was simple by modern standards, relying on bumpers and rollovers to generate scoring rather than any flipper-based skill, since flippers had not yet been introduced to pinball.

Little is documented about the machine's specific artwork or theme. Its age and status as a wartime conversion kit make it a curiosity for collectors and historians studying the transitional years of pinball just before the flipper era began.
