The Games
About This Machine
The Games, manufactured by NSM/LÖWEN of Bingen, Germany in 1985, is a solid-state electronic pinball machine themed around the Olympic Games. Notably, its playfield is the same as Mylstar's 1984 machine also titled 'The Games,' with backglass artwork very similar to that earlier game, though the flags and score displays are placed differently.
Gameplay centers on two flippers alongside an array of targets: four pop bumpers, two standup targets, one spinning target, one vari-target, and a kick-out hole. Two captive balls share the same chamber, adding a layer of complexity as players navigate multiple objectives at once.
The machine's cabinet and backbox, made of sheet metal covered in plastic lamination designed to resemble wood grain, are characteristic of NSM/LÖWEN's manufacturing approach - reportedly used across all of the company's cabinets. Beyond these details, limited information survives about the game's design process or original creators.
