Silver Horseshoe
About This Machine
The Silver Horseshoe was manufactured by Field Manufacturing Corporation of Peoria, Illinois in 1933. It is a copy of A.B.T.'s earlier 'Horseshoe' machine, produced during the very early, formative years of the commercial pinball industry.
From a gameplay perspective, the Silver Horseshoe's specific mechanics are not well documented. Given its age and its status as a copy of an A.B.T. design, it likely followed the simple pin-and-target conventions typical of pinball's earliest years, well before flippers or other modern features existed.
Little else is documented about the Silver Horseshoe's design or artwork. As a surviving example from one of the earliest wave of American pinball manufacturers, it offers collectors and historians a window into the industry's earliest days, even as a derivative of an existing design rather than an original one.
