Bush-League
About This Machine
Bush-League is a rare and significant addition to any pinball collection, particularly for those who appreciate the early days of electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machines. Produced by D. Gottlieb & Company in July 1951 as a baseball-themed 'Bat Game' (model #54), it had long been believed never to have been produced — but at least one confirmed unit survives, bearing serial number 001. The machine measures 27 by 19 by 15 inches.
Gameplay on Bush-League features a traditional single-player EM layout with flippers and bumpers, though detailed records of its specific rules are scarce, leaving much to speculation among enthusiasts. Based on its era and baseball theme, it likely offered a straightforward, target-based scoring experience typical of early 1950s Gottlieb games.
With only a single known surviving example, Bush-League is an especially rare artifact of early-1950s pinball, and its baseball theme reflects the sport's enduring popularity in American amusements of the period.
