About This Machine

Ten Little Indians was designed by Wayne Neyens for D. Gottlieb & Company in July 1950 (model #39) with a Native American theme, but it was never put into production. Neyens later recalled that the game had a scoring sequence built around the number ten and used long flippers; rather than releasing it, Gottlieb reworked the design into its 1951 title 'Happy-Go-Lucky.'

Because it never reached location floors, no confirmed details survive about its final artwork or specific scoring rules beyond Neyens' recollections. As with other Gottlieb single-player EM machines of the era, it would have used a standard combination of flippers, bumpers, and switches.

Ten Little Indians is notable today mainly as a design that was quietly repurposed into a later, produced Gottlieb game, illustrating how ideas moved between projects inside the company during this period.
