Meat Ball
About This Machine
Meat Ball was designed by D. Gottlieb & Company in June 1950 as machine model #38, but according to IPDB records it was never produced. It survives only as a documented design from a particularly active stretch of Gottlieb's development pipeline.
Because the machine never reached production, no confirmed details exist about its intended gameplay, artwork, or theme. Had it been built, it likely would have followed the conventions of Gottlieb's other single-player electro-mechanical games of the time, using flippers, bumpers, and simple scoring targets rather than the ramps or multi-level features associated with much later pinball design.
Meat Ball is chiefly notable today as a record of a game Gottlieb planned but ultimately shelved, offering a small window into the company's design process during the early 1950s.
