About This Machine

Card Trix, designed by Ed Krynski with art by Art Stenholm, is a single-player electro-mechanical Add-A-Ball pinball machine manufactured by D. Gottlieb & Company in April 1970. It was produced as an export version for the Italian market, model number 300, and carries a theme blending college life, happiness, music, and playing cards.

The playfield includes two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, seven standup targets, and a kick-out hole - a fairly typical layout for a Gottlieb Add-A-Ball machine of the period. The backglass depicts a college dorm room, complete with pennants on the wall and a study desk, tying together the game's collegiate theme.

As with many of Gottlieb's export titles from this era, detailed information about Card Trix's specific ruleset and target scoring has not survived, but its blend of college-life imagery and playing-card motifs makes it a distinctive entry among Gottlieb's early-1970s Add-A-Ball lineup.
