Satellite
About This Machine
The Satellite is a rare example of late-1970s Italian pinball design. Produced by Costruzioni Elettroniche Automatiche (C.E.A.) of Bologna in 1978, this solid-state, four-player machine is one of relatively few known Italian pinball titles from the period, giving it real interest for historians tracing electronic pinball's development outside the major American manufacturers.
Gameplay features are typical of the era: two flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, seven standup targets, two star rollovers, a spinning target, a kick-out hole, and a messenger ball feature. Its artwork and playfield design, credited to Michele "Mike" Martinelli, were based on Gottlieb's 1977 titles 'Jet Spin' and 'Super Spin.'
Little is documented about the machine's designer or the circumstances of its release, but its rarity and Italian origin make the Satellite a sought-after curiosity for collectors exploring pinball history beyond the usual American brands.
