Flash Gordon
About This Machine
Flash Gordon, released in 1981 by Bell Games of Bologna, Italy, is a solid-state electronic pinball machine that is identical to Bally's 1981 machine of the same name, right down to sharing the Bally MPU AS-2518-35 hardware. Bell Games, like several other Italian manufacturers of the era, produced licensed or near-identical versions of American designs for the European market.
As a faithful reproduction of Bally's title, Flash Gordon carries the same sci-fi theming and gameplay design as its American counterpart, supporting up to four players. Because it is a rebadged version of a well-known Bally machine rather than an original design, detailed Bell Games-specific documentation is limited.
Flash Gordon remains an interesting example of how Italian pinball companies in the early 1980s brought American licensed titles to European operators, and it offers collectors a rarer regional variant of a game otherwise well known in its Bally form.
