Fireball II
About This Machine
Fireball II is a solid-state electronic pinball machine from Bell Games of Bologna, Italy, which operated between 1980 and 1985; its exact release year is not documented. It is essentially the same game as Bally's 1981 'Fireball II', with one notable difference: it lacks the captive ball found in the center playfield of the Bally original.
Gameplay on the Fireball II centers on a Fantasy theme and supports up to four players. Three flippers allow for precise control over the ball's trajectory, while three pop bumpers add excitement. The machine features two 4-bank drop targets and one 3-bank drop target, along with a kick-out hole. A distinctive touch is the rubbered post positioned between the flippers, which kicks the ball upward when activated by an extra button located below the right flipper button.
As one of the relatively few games produced by the lesser-known Bell Games, Fireball II offers an interesting look at how Italian manufacturers licensed and adapted designs from larger American companies like Bally during this period.
