Devil King
About This Machine
Devil King is a solid-state electronic pinball machine manufactured in 1987 by Tecnoplay, a short-lived Italian company based in San Marino that operated from 1987 to 1989. It is actually a re-release of Zaccaria's 1986 kit 'Mystic Star,' repackaged under the Devil King name and Tecnoplay's branding.
Gameplay features a comprehensive array of interactive elements for its four players: two flippers, three pop bumpers, and slingshots that add unpredictability to each session. A 4-bank drop target and six standup targets increase the challenge, while a strategically placed kick-out hole and an upper right free ball lane round out the scoring opportunities.
Little further documentation exists about Devil King's theme or design inspiration beyond its connection to Mystic Star. Its rarity as a product of one of Italy's lesser-known pinball manufacturers, combined with its varied set of gameplay mechanisms, makes it a notable curiosity for collectors interested in the late-1980s Italian pinball scene.
