WHO dunnit
About This Machine
WHO dunnit, manufactured by Midway (under the Bally trade name) in September 1995, is a solid-state pinball machine built around a murder mystery theme. It was conceived and co-designed by Dwight Sullivan, alongside Barry Oursler, with art by Linda Deal and Paul Barker, and software also handled by Sullivan.
Gameplay features two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots, along with toys including a telephone and spinning slot machine reels that tie into the detective theme. The game offers unlimited buy-in balls per player as an operator-configurable option, and weighs a substantial 271 lbs with its legs. Voice-over artist Tim Kitzrow provided the voice of Detective Nick Spade, adding a strong audio presence to the game's mystery-solving atmosphere.
Williams/Midway produced 2,416 confirmed units of WHO dunnit, making it a moderately common mid-1990s WPC-era title for collectors interested in its distinctive theme and detective-noir presentation.
