About This Machine

Ski Jump, manufactured by Zaccaria in October 1978, is a single-player solid-state pinball with a winter skiing theme, featuring artwork by Lorenzo Rimondini. Notably, it uses three flippers, a layout that adds an extra dimension of shot-making beyond the more common two-flipper setup.

Technically, Ski Jump is unusual among Zaccaria's catalog: it runs on a production Zaccaria MPU unrelated to the company's Gen1 board set, built around a National Semiconductor 8060 CPU rather than the Signetics 2650A used elsewhere, combining CPU, driver, and power supply functions on a single large board. Only three games ever used this MPU -- Ski Jump and Zaccaria's 1978 'Strike' and 1979 'Space City'.

While little is documented about the design process behind Ski Jump beyond Rimondini's artwork, its unique hardware and three-flipper layout make it a distinctive and lesser-known entry in Zaccaria's history for collectors to discover.
