Motor Show
About This Machine
The Motor Show, designed by Tony Ramunni and Mauro Ferrari for Mr. Game of Bologna, Italy, was manufactured in June 1989. This solid-state electronic machine is a distinctive Italian pinball with a Monster Truck Rally / Motorcycles theme -- reportedly renamed from Mr. Game's earlier 'Fast Track' after the company's new owner acquired an actual motor show.
The Motor Show boasts several distinctive gameplay features. Its targets all appear to be drop targets but are actually stationary. Stereo sound and a color video monitor set in the lower-middle backbox handle scoring, credits, ball-in-play status, attract-mode graphics, and three video modes. Two flippers and three pop bumpers round out the layout, with artwork by Ramunni, dot animation by Alberto Frabetti, mechanics by Gianni Maccagnani, and software by Mauro Ferrari and Alessandro Scardovi.
As one of the lesser-known machines from the short-lived Mr. Game company (1988-1990), the Motor Show is a distinctive discovery for collectors and enthusiasts interested in the more obscure corners of Italian pinball history.
