F1 Grand Prix
About This Machine
F1 Grand Prix, released by Nuova Bell Games of Bologna, Italy in 1987, is a solid-state electronic (SS) pinball machine built around a Formula One auto racing theme. It was conceived and designed by Tommy Walker and Paul Daniel, with art by Adriano Nardi, sound by Jeff Douglas, and software by Peter Stano.
Gameplay features three flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, two 4-bank drop target banks, ten standup targets, and a left outlane kickback, giving players a large number of shots to work with over the course of a game. The abundance of targets and banks reflects the racing theme's emphasis on speed and precision, rewarding players for quickly working through the game's target array.
As one of Nuova Bell Games' racing-themed titles, F1 Grand Prix captures the appeal of Formula One during the 1980s and represents the company's continued solid-state output in the late 1980s, alongside other Nuova Bell titles such as Space Hawks.
