Future World
About This Machine
Future World, released by Zaccaria of Bologna, Italy in October 1978, is an outer-space themed solid-state (SS) pinball machine from the company's early electronic era, built on Zaccaria's Generation 1 MPU platform. It later spawned a one-player version, Zaccaria's 1979 'Space City'.
Gameplay features two flippers, three pop bumpers, a 5-bank of drop targets, and two kick-out holes, giving players a variety of scoring opportunities within the outer-space theme. Artist Lorenzo Rimondini contributed to the game's visual design, which reflects the retro-futuristic, sci-fi-influenced aesthetic common to pinball machines of the late 1970s.
As one of Zaccaria's earlier solid-state titles, Future World offers a look at the company's transition from electromechanical to electronic pinball manufacturing, and remains a machine of interest to collectors focused on Zaccaria's catalog and the European pinball scene of the era.
