About This Machine

The Bounty Hunter is a classic example of Premier Technology's output under the Gottlieb trade name during the mid-1980s. Released in July 1985 on the Gottlieb System 80B platform, this solid state electronic pinball machine was designed and programmed by John Buras, with artwork by Larry Day, and had a confirmed production run of 1,220 units.

The game offers engaging mechanics for its era. Players work with three flippers, two pop bumpers, and two slingshots, along with six standup targets, two rollunders, a kick-out hole, a drop target, and a horseshoe lane - a distinctive feature that adds to the machine's charm. A mini-post sits between the flippers to help save center drains, the game can be set for 3 or 5 ball play, and only one extra ball per ball in play is given, keeping an element of challenge. Its electronic sound is paired with a traditional electro-mechanical knocker.

The Bounty Hunter's design and artwork reflect its American West theme. Interestingly, artist Larry Day has said the game's look was inspired by the 1980s Spanish graphic novel series Torpedo 1936, with the art of Jordi Bernet. Its combination of classic layout and nostalgic charm makes it a worthwhile addition to any pinball collection.
