About This Machine

West Club, produced by Rally (Rally Play Company) of Nice, France in April 1967, is an electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine that carried forward the Flip-tronics innovations the company had introduced the year before on Rally Girl, including Nixie tube electronic scoring, electronic sounds, and relays mounted on circuit boards rather than hand-wired.

Key gameplay features on West Club include its 2 flippers, 3 pop bumpers, and 4 slingshots, which offer a challenging yet accessible experience for players across 3, 4, or 5 balls per player. Hitting targets 1 through 6 lights the center target, allowing for replays and carryover from one game to the next. West Club also has no outhole; instead, a drained ball remains visible to the player as it is recycled back to the ball shooter lane, and at game over the ball is kept from the plunger by a raised pin. The legs hinge for easier shipping or storage.

One notable aspect of West Club's design is its use of silkscreened art on the glass. Three 'Tilt' warnings are printed on the glass, lighting up under the offending player's score (or in the shared red area, depending on the tilt-penalty setting) as a reminder that excessive tilting results in a penalty. West Club was also produced in an add-a-ball version for the Italian market.

Technical Details

Notable Features:
Flippes (2), Pop bumpers (3), Slingshots (4), Standup targets (7). No outhole; a drained ball remains visible to the player as it is recycled to the ball shooter lane. At Game Over, the ball is kept from contact with the plunger by a raised pin. Legs hinge for shipping or storage. Nixie tube electronic scoring. Electronic sounds. Relays all on circuit boards. No electronic logic in game features. 3, 4, or 5 balls per player. Hitting targets 1 through 6 lights center target for replays and will carry-over from game to game. Tilt penalty: ball in play, or game over. There are three silkscreened ' Tilt ' words on this glass. When the tilt penalty is set to end the game, the ' tilt ' lights up directly under the score of the player who tilted. When the penalty is set to ball-in-play, the ' tilt ' that lights up is located in the red area of the glass below both player's scores.
