Frank Thomas' Big Hurt™
About This Machine
The Frank Thomas pinball machine, designed by Bill Parker and released by Premier Technology (trading as Gottlieb) in June 1995, is a baseball-themed solid-state title honoring Chicago White Sox slugger Frank Thomas. It runs on the Gottlieb System 3 platform, with 1,985 units confirmed produced.
Key features include three flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, a 3-bank of drop targets, three ramps, a captive ball, and a 4-ball multiball mode. A signature toy is a moving baseball glove on the playfield, reinforcing the baseball theme.
Artwork was created by Susan O'Reilly, Constantino Mitchell, and Jeanine Mitchell (Constantino's wife, who handled color work for the playfield, plastics, and cabinet), evoking the look and energy of a baseball stadium. As one of Gottlieb's sports-themed titles from the mid-1990s, Frank Thomas offers a solid, feature-rich challenge for pinball enthusiasts.
