Samba
About This Machine
Samba is a two-player electro-mechanical pinball machine from Alben of France, manufactured in 1961. Alben was active from 1958 to 1964, and Samba is a notable example of European pinball manufacturing from that period, similar in style to Williams' 1959 'Fiesta.'
The machine's theme celebrates music, dancing, and festivity, with artwork reflecting a lively, celebratory mood. Gameplay features four flippers, three pop bumpers, two passive bumpers, two slingshots, three standup targets, and two gobble holes, along with a playfield score reel capped at a maximum displayed score of 1,999 points per player.
Little is documented about Samba's specific designer, but its blend of festive theming and dense EM feature set make it a notable piece of French pinball history from the early 1960s.
