Rock 2500
About This Machine
The Rock 2500, produced by Playmatic of Barcelona in 1985, is a four-player solid-state pinball machine with a Fantasy/Music/Women theme and artwork by Blas Gallego. It shares its playfield layout with Playmatic's earlier 1980 title 'Black Fever,' though it features entirely different artwork.
The machine has three flippers, with the bottom two arranged asymmetrically, and no slingshots -- a somewhat unusual combination. Scoring opportunities include six star rollovers, three standup targets, a 5-bank drop target, four additional drop targets, a single pop bumper, and left dual inlanes, creating a dense and varied target layout for players to work through.
Blas Gallego, the artist behind Rock 2500's backglass and playfield art, later noted that he had sold the artwork to the pinball company years earlier for use on the machine. As a mid-1980s Playmatic release, Rock 2500 reflects the fantasy and music theming common to European pinball of the era.
