Magic Lites
About This Machine
Magic Lites is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine made in 1959 by Jack Rogers of France, one of a small number of French pinball manufacturers active in the late 1950s. The game carries a Happiness / Circus-Carnival theme.
Its backglass art is similar in style to Gottlieb's 1958 'Sittin' Pretty,' which featured seven animated 'tube' lights; Magic Lites' backglass has six similar tubes, and it's presumed -- though not confirmed -- that they carry the same kind of light animation, given the timing and the game's name.
Beyond its backglass design and theme, little further documentation survives about Magic Lites' specific playfield features, designer, or production numbers, leaving much of its history -- and the exact workings of its 'lite' tubes -- unconfirmed.
