Mini Golf
About This Machine
The Mini Golf pinball machine, manufactured by Williams Electronic Manufacturing Corporation in September 1964, is a two-player electro-mechanical Bat Game with a golf theme built around 9 holes. As a Bat Game, it uses a mechanical bat or plunger-style striking mechanism rather than flippers to send the ball toward its targets, distinguishing it from later flipper-driven pinball machines.
Williams originally credited Steve Kordek as the designer, but the company later removed that credit after Kordek compiled his own list of games he designed at Williams in the late 1990s, and Mini Golf was not among them; the game's actual designer remains undocumented. A non-replay variant of the same game was also released as Mini Golf (New York Model).
Specific details of its scoring rules and artwork have not survived, but its golf theme and 9-hole design make it a distinctive entry among Williams' 1960s sports-themed Bat Games, and its rarity and age make it a notable find for collectors of pre-flipper-era EM machines.
