Super Flipp
About This Machine
The Super Flipp, manufactured by All American Amusements in September 1987, is a small pure mechanical (PM) novelty machine made long after electronic pinball had already become the industry standard. Rather than representing the end of an era, it's better understood as a niche, low-tech novelty item built alongside, not before, the electronic machines that dominated arcades at the time.
Gameplay centers on two flippers that are the player's primary tool for controlling the ball, with no electronic scoring, sound, or lighting involved. Its compact size (about 55 cm long, 36 cm wide, and 50 cm high) and multilingual printing, including English, French, and Italian patent text near the left flipper, suggest it was aimed at a European market.
Little is documented about the designer or theme behind the Super Flipp. Its simplicity and small production footprint make it an obscure but interesting find for collectors interested in the many niche, low-cost mechanical novelties that persisted alongside mainstream electronic pinball.
