Pass Kick
About This Machine
Pass Kick, manufactured by Exhibit Supply Company (ESCO) in November 1934, holds a notable place in early pinball history. Designed by Bruno Radtke, it was built specifically for Scott, Adickes & Co. of London as a soccer-themed game for the European market. An identical football-themed version, sold in the USA, was released the same year as Exhibit's 'Drop Kick' -- essentially the same machine rebranded for its respective market's preferred sport.
The machine's key gameplay features and mechanical specifics are not well documented in surviving records. However, as an early example of a sports-themed EM machine tailored to two different markets under two different names, Pass Kick offers valuable insight into how manufacturers customized games for regional audiences even in pinball's earliest days.
While limited information exists about Pass Kick's specific gameplay, its role as a transatlantic sibling to Drop Kick highlights the growth and international reach of the pinball industry during the 1930s.
