Wagon Train
About This Machine
Wagon Train, manufactured by Alben of France in 1960, is a licensed adaptation of Gottlieb's own 1960 'Wagon Train', produced under license for the European market. Notably, surviving examples often carry the Gottlieb logo on the backglass and playfield rather than Alben's own branding -- the clearest sign of an Alben-made unit is typically the lower-quality metal internals compared to genuine Gottlieb parts, along with some plastic components bearing the Alben name.
Gameplay on Wagon Train follows the familiar mechanics of EM pinball of the period, including flippers, bumpers, and a ball return system, mirroring its Gottlieb original.
As one of a relatively small number of games Alben produced during its short 1958-1964 run, Wagon Train offers an interesting look at how American pinball designs were licensed and rebadged for the European market in this era.
