About This Machine

Pin Ball Pool, manufactured by Bell Games of Bologna, Italy in December 1983, is a solid-state billiards-themed conversion kit built for Bally's 1981 'Eight Ball Deluxe' cabinets, using the same ROMs as that machine. The backglass and playfield artwork are credited to Michele "Mike" Martinelli and Stefano Baronti, whose names appear on the backglass itself.

The gameplay features of Pin Ball Pool are notable for their variety and challenge. Three flippers allow precise ball control, while three pop bumpers add rapid, chaotic scoring opportunities. A kick-out hole, a 7-bank drop target row, a 4-in-line drop target bank, a stand-alone drop target, and a star rollover round out a feature-rich layout for a conversion kit of its era.

As a repackaging of the popular Eight Ball Deluxe platform with a new billiards theme and Italian-produced artwork, Pin Ball Pool is an interesting example of how European manufacturers like Bell Games adapted established American designs for their own markets in the early-to-mid 1980s.
