About This Machine

Blue Max, manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in July 1975, is a four-player electro-mechanical game that blends combat and adventure themes. It was designed by Jerry Koci, Albin Peters, and Wendell McAdams, and a two-player version of the same game was released as Chicago Coin's 1975 'Red Baron', with different artwork.

Players control two flippers to work a playfield stocked with two pop bumpers, two slingshots, two spinning targets, and two drop targets. A kick-out hole adds an element of surprise, while the end-of-ball bonus offers a tantalizing reward for persistence.

The Blue Max's design and artwork are striking, with aviation-themed graphics and bold colors reflecting the mid-1970s trend toward more visually appealing cabinet designs. Little information is known about the game's production numbers or its popularity during its lifespan, but Blue Max remains an appealing example of Chicago Coin's later electro-mechanical output.
