About This Machine

The Genco Manufacturing Company's Triple Play, released in September 1938, is a Flipperless electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine from the late 1930s, a period when pinball was still transitioning from purely mechanical to electromechanical designs.

Gameplay on Triple Play features ten spring bumpers, eight of which are notable for lacking plastic bumper housings, exposing their springs and giving the machine a distinctive mechanical look. As a Flipperless game, play relies on tilting, timing, and shot placement rather than flipper control, typical of pre-1947 pinball design.

While little information is available on the design, art, or theme of Triple Play, its rarity makes it an item of interest for collectors and enthusiasts. Genco Manufacturing Company, founded in Chicago in 1931, was among the early Chicago-based pinball manufacturers and would go on to produce numerous machines before ceasing operations in 1958.
