Karting
About This Machine
The Karting pinball machine, produced by Rally Play Company of Nice, France in 1962, is a scarce addition to any serious collector's arsenal. It is an early example of electro-mechanical (EM) technology from a small French manufacturer that operated from 1961 to 1969, built around a go-kart racing theme.
Karting features two flippers, four pop bumpers, and two slingshots. Notably, it has no outlanes, which shapes shot placement and strategy differently than machines that do. The maximum displayed point score per player is 1,999.
The go-kart theme and artwork reflect the sport's appeal, though little further documentation exists on the machine's designer or contemporary reception. Despite being relatively unknown outside collector circles, Karting's gameplay mechanics and historical rarity make it a notable piece of early European EM pinball.
