About This Machine

The Imperator, manufactured in France by Jack Rogers in 1961, is a two-player electro-mechanical (EM) pinball machine and a French adaptation of Gottlieb's 1954 title Super Jumbo. Jack Rogers operated as a pinball manufacturer from 1959 to 1960, but this particular title dates to 1961.

The Imperator's gameplay includes two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, and a single standup target -- a layout consistent with EM pinball design of the late 1950s and early 1960s that it inherited from its Gottlieb source game.

As a European-made version of an American Gottlieb design, Imperator offers a glimpse into how mid-century American pinball machines were adapted and re-released by manufacturers overseas. Little further information is available about its specific artwork, theme, or the extent of changes made from the original Super Jumbo design.
