Flame of Athens
About This Machine
The Flame of Athens, manufactured by Allied Leisure Industries of Hialeah, Florida in December 1978, is a two-player solid-state cocktail-table pinball machine with artwork by R. Michael Torrey.
The game offered 5 balls per 25-cent play and featured two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, four drop targets, three standup targets, a horseshoe tunnel, and a right outlane ball-return gate, with electromechanical chimes and a knocker for sound. As a cocktail-table format game, it was designed to be played from a seated position around a horizontal playfield, a popular format for bars and lounges in the late 1970s.
Flame of Athens appears nearly identical to Fascination's 1979 title 'Eros One,' though the specific differences between the two, if any, are undocumented. Together with its cocktail-table format, it remains a distinctive if lesser-known entry from Allied Leisure's late-1970s solid-state era.
