About This Machine

The Fantasy pinball machine, produced by Playmatic of Barcelona in 1976, is a four-player electromechanical game with a fantasy theme, part of the company's mid-1970s European lineup. A single-player version of the same design was released by Playmatic as 'Fairy' in 1975.

Fantasy's playfield features two flippers, a pop bumper, two slingshots, seven standup targets, a spinning target, a captive ball, a kick-out hole, and an action ring, with a maximum displayed score of 999,990 points per player. Its playfield layout closely mirrors Bally's 1975 two-player title 'Flicker' and the 1974 four-player 'Boomerang,' while the backglass artwork's central couple bears a resemblance to the pair depicted on Gottlieb's 1975 'Atlantis.'

Little is documented about the specific artist or designer behind Fantasy, but its shared design lineage with contemporary Bally and Gottlieb titles reflects the common practice of European manufacturers adapting successful American layouts for their own markets.
