About This Machine

Black Jack is a standout title from Bally's golden era of solid-state electronics. Released in June 1978 and designed by Jim Patla with artwork by Dick White, this four-player game brought the casino floor to the arcade. It is the solid-state successor to Bally's 1977 two-player electro-mechanical game of the same name, and 4,883 units were produced.

The gameplay is built around a classic late-1970s feature set: two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, four standup targets, a kick-out hole, and a spinning target. Players must navigate the playfield with precision, weighing their chances of hitting specific targets against the risk of losing balls. The game's design rewards strategy and timing.

With its cards-and-gambling theme, Black Jack captures the excitement and energy of Vegas-style gaming, making it both a nostalgic throwback to the late 1970s and a solid representative of Bally's early solid-state lineup.
