Duette Deluxe
About This Machine
The Duette Deluxe, built by D. Gottlieb & Company in March 1955, is a two-player electro-mechanical machine designed by Wayne Neyens with artwork by Roy Parker. It's a variant of Gottlieb's 1955 'Duette,' housed in a different cabinet style with a wider backglass. With 736 confirmed units produced, it's a relatively scarce piece from Gottlieb's mid-1950s catalog.
The Duette Deluxe offers a classic EM feature set: two flippers, three pop bumpers, four passive bumpers, two slingshots, two standup targets, and a gobble hole, with a maximum score of 999 points per player. This combination of active and passive scoring elements creates a layout where players must balance aggressive shooting with careful ball control.
As a variant of an existing Gottlieb title distinguished mainly by its cabinet styling, the Duette Deluxe offers collectors and historians a window into how manufacturers of the era sometimes released cosmetic variations of successful designs alongside the originals.
