Daytona Beach
About This Machine
Daytona Beach, designed by Don Hooker and manufactured by Bally in 1958, is a single-player electro-mechanical bingo-style machine with a beach and recreation theme. It is essentially the same game as Bally's 1958 'Beach Time,' released with a different backglass.
The machine features 25 trap holes, a high count that adds depth and challenge to its gameplay, typical of the bingo-style scoring mechanisms popular in this era. As a bingo machine, its scoring is achieved by directing the ball into specific hole combinations rather than through flipper-based shot-making.
The artwork depicts a lively beach scene with sunbathers and tropical imagery, in keeping with the lighthearted, escapist themes common to Bally's bingo machines of the late 1950s. Its shared lineage with Beach Time and distinctive backglass make it an interesting variant for collectors of Bally's bingo-era output.
